Presenters: Dr. Paul L. Shivers DMD, MD and Dr. Paul F. Bermudez DMD, MD are some of the highest trained young Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in the country. They schooled and trained together in Cleveland Ohio at Case Western Reserve, University Hospitals of Cleveland, Metro Health and The Cleveland Clinic. Both competed continuously, breaking every academic record of their programs. They went on to complete fellowships in Head and Neck Cancer/Reconstruction and Craniofacial/Pediatric Surgery, respectively. They are currently faculty at different OMS training programs in Michigan, where they continue to one-up each other to provide the best possible care. 

We are lucky to have them visit the Western Slope to give an Oral and Maxillofacial Update to the Western Colorado Dental Society.

Paul L Shivers DMD, MD

Dr. Shiver’s is a native of Ohio. He grew up in a strong dental family assisting his father, Dr Paul K Shivers, chairside. After completing dental school and OMS residency at Case Western Reserve University, Dr Shivers followed up with fellowships in Head and Neck Cancer and Reconstruction at the University of Michigan. He is currently a Staff Surgeon in Wolverine’s OMS program focusing on treatment and reconstruction of a variety of maxillofacial diseases and defects.

Paul F. Bermudez DMD, MD

Dr Bermudez completed his dental and OMS training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio. fellowship in Pediatric and Craniofacial Surgery at The Arnold and Winnie Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando Florida. He is currently a full-time faculty in the St John’s OMS residency in Detroit area. His practice focuses on the surgical care of patients with congenital malformations of the head and face. He is happy to be soundly in his home state of Michigan. He spends almost all of his spare time reading or at the golf course.
